Fret-King Esprit 3 – One shape to rule them all?

Fret-King Esprit 3 – One shape to rule them all?

Trevor Wilkinson is the man hiding inside your guitar. His name could be on your bridge, underneath your pickups, on the back of your tuners – Wilkinson has made ‘em all, and made ‘em better. But did you know that he also makes guitars? In a puzzling turn of events, Wilkinson decided that his last name wasn’t the right choice for this...

Episode II – Revenge of the Lunchboxes

Episode II – Revenge of the Lunchboxes

May 19, 2012

Let me first assure you that by referencing the Star Wars prequel trilogy, I am in no way, shape or form voicing my support or approval of George Lucas’s bastard progeny. I think we can all agree that post-1986 George Lucas should not be allowed near a video camera, and should be smacked in the head every time he tries to CGI something. In fact, the only...

Clash of the Mini-Titans! Carvin V3M vs Mesa Mini Rectifier

Rise of the Lunchboxes Okay, so we all know that there’s nothing more manly than tight leather pants, chunky gold jewellery and a raging 100W full stack behind you on stage, right? (and some doughnuts just off the stage) But, um, we’re all really secure aren’t we? The trend towards portable “lunchbox” amps has been brewing for...

I’d say something about the post “going live” on Tuesday but I don’t think I’m...

But then I found out that a company called ISK makes a similar vintage-inspired mic, at a significantly more affordable price. They call it the DM-55, and it looks like a goddamn Terminator....

May 5, 2012

A few days ago I posted up the first review, and was stoked with the response – thanks to all the readers on the site, on Facebook – I’m working on Twitter and G+ integration as well for you social mediaphiles. Gear Vault #1!  I dipped randomly into the murky depths of my Photobucket account, and came out with this: My first real Gibson Les...

Tokai ES60 – if you don’t have $5000 to spend on a Gibson 335.

May 2, 2012

So… first review! Tokai is a well known Japanese company which, according to Wikipedia (the font of all knowledge) was founded in 1947. They’ve spent a lot of time in the shadow of Fender and Gibson, largely famous for taking copies of classic designs and rechristening them with retarded monikers – gems such as “Breezy Sound”,...
